No, actually, I want an opinion on this. Let there be two people called X and Y, each with a different yet special relationship with a certain individual called Z. (***names have been changed to protect privacy***) X focuses on Z's weaknesses, the tasks she did not do, etc. X, as a matter of fact, told Z today (this is a direct quote, by the way) that she is "going over the top", a statement that was less than appreciated by Z. X enjoys bringing up events of the past to prove that she is, and continues to be, right. X will not let Z live her life. X does not trust Z to make responsible decisions which she is completely capable of making, as Z has proven in the past. This makes communication between X and Z strained as of lately.
Enter Y. Y makes Z feel loved. Y makes Z feel good about herself. Y helps Z to focus not on her imperfections but on what she does well. Y makes Z feel as if someone out there feels her pain and knows what she is going through. Y, for example, believes that Z's PSAT scores are wonderful and is proud of Z for making the score that she did. X, on the other hand, continues (over six months later) to harp on Z about her scores, saying that she didn't study enough for the PSAT, if she had studied, she would have done better, etc. All of the previously mentioned reasons cause Z to want to spend more time with Y than with X. X, as a result, becomes upset because Z is, apparently, "treating the house like a hotel". X argues that Z comes and goes whenever she pleases. X, however, is also frequently out of the house, and fails to notice that Z is often in the house when X is not present.
Now for the question...does anyone fault Z for wanting to be with Y as opposed to X?
(confused? e-mail me and I'll explain...) ~laters~
p.s. no water balloon fight today...sad :*(
