an exercise in rhyme and meter, done entirely (when else?) during english class.

painted fragments of you i am holding
as the picture is unfolding
all to reveal a weak and weary child
scared of life and all that life is bringing
i can hear you sadly singing
arias of a life lived in denial

tired of all this gossip that you're hearing
is the evening star appearing?
or is it you just looking for release?
in a washed-up world you're left to wringing
out a hope to which you're clinging
that one day this will end and you'll find peace

swirls of hue combine in what you're painting
could the world be slowly tainting
the picture that you someday want to be?
life's a stage and all the men are playing
while your vision is decaying
you must escape the bondage to live free

heh! take that, langford! find the meter of that! heh!
