thought now would be a good time to write about this semester, since it's almost over (3 days!) and i don't feel like doing anything else...
it's wierd to think that, after living in austin by myself since late august, i'll be living at home again. i'm quite excited about getting to hang out with my family, my friends, everyone again... but i am most definitely going to miss austin... but that's okay. i think it's time for a break. next semester is going to be just as big-if not more-of a killer than this semester was, so i'm looking forward to getting some serious R and R before i have to head back to school.
longhorn band was the best thing that happened to me this semester. it forced me to jump head-first into college life, and it was an opportunity that, looking back, i am extremely grateful for. there's no telling how happy i would be at school without LHB, who my friends would be, who i myself would be. although it was a huge time committment, one that i'm not sure i'll have time for every fall i spend here, i am most definately going to do it next year and possibly beyond. there's just something about marching into a stadium of 80,000 screaming fans, being loved by some and hated by others, and playing the eyes of texas that just gives you goosebumps and fills your soul with pride. something so much better than high school marching band that keeps me going even when i don't want to go to night practice, which is fairly often...
being a music major is working out rather nicely for me, too. at the beginning of the semester i wasn't sure that this was what i wanted, but now i feel confident that this is where i need to be. i am still planning on declaring my second major in english sometime soon... i'll be taking an intro to english studies class next semester that i'm excited about. and i'm excited about the opportunities i'll get next semester, such as actually getting to study with my percussion professor... it might be the only semester i get to do so, but at least there will be one, right? oh, and if you see me over the break, ask me to play "my immortal" on the piano... i can do it. and i think it sounds pretty good too... it's just one of those things that i work on during my idle hours in the music building...
so, in other words, this semester was awesome, and i really look forward to the time to come here. hook 'em!
