sunday night's alright

i watched the passion of the christ tonight. yes, i know, i'm about 5 months late, perhaps more, in viewing this movie that should have been of great interest to me a long time ago, but after church today i got the strange sensation that i was finally ready to watch it with nobody there, no emotional support, nothing but me face-to-face with the bloody horror of the cross. and the movie does an excellent job at portraying that. and perhaps i'm a complete sucker for movies intended to tug your heartstrings but who could watch that movie and walk away not believing in Jesus and His power? even if you hate christianity, if you hate organized religion, how could you walk away unimpacted, untouched by the life of a carpenter from galilee?

... i had planned to write about half of my paper by the end of this weekend. right now i'll be lucky if i squeeze out an introductory paragraph. sooo not in the mood for US history right now...
