another random poem a la me. this one i actually tried to put to music, but i'm starting to believe some things are better left unsung...or at least, unsung by me...
because you know we're all the same
different faces in a crowd
we all answer to one name
we want the whos, the whens, the hows
now you see it's all a joke
a big freak show at our expense
falling underneath the yoke
of selfless, restless recompense
watch life through a goldfish bowl
sleeping there, you're not alone
dream of pasture, grassy knoll
wake with hearts of bleeding stone
iron fists close iron gates
frailty haunts us like a ghost
in the darkness demons wait
face the things we fear the most
because you know we're all the same
we all make our solemn vows
i struck him down by god's great name
funny, i'm not laughing now...
united we stand alone
separated in our ways
time a variable unknown
counting minutes, counting days
so we battle day to say
so immortal yet so scared
is there any other way?
must we be so unprepared?
with our backs against the wall
frailty haunts us like a ghost
strain our ears to hear you call
face the things we fear the most
i think i will call it "the same" but i don't know really. any ideas perhaps?
