random musings of a tired mind. by me.

i've been writing a lot of poems lately. and i discovered that i am the hugest dork alive. because my new thing is to experiment with rhyme patterns from english class. like octaves (abab-bcbc)...a la this, from today's band class...

little girl upon her knees
praying for an answer clear
bring him home lord, if you please
to the place he's held most dear
kneeling bathed in twilight here
little girl reflects on when
days were joyful, air was clear
passion commonplace back then

prayerfully, a candle lit
little girl lets herself cry
weep for sorrow infinite
for those summer nights gone by
little girl wants to know why
her heart is devoid of peace
why the feelings just don't die
will she ever find release

hahaha. see, you can all laugh at me now, because i'm a dork. :-)

liz said something interesting today after reading this poem...it just kind of struck me. she noted that every poem i write lately has something to do with "he". sometimes i don't even understand why i write. to quote orange county, i'm not oppressed and i'm not gay...i don't even really have a troubled soul, although some of you may beg to differ...sometimes i think i just do it because it's certainly more interesting than a lecture on past tense spanish verbs or brass intonation. other times i think there is a writer locked inside of me that hasn't quite found its voice. which it is, nobody knows...
