let me see how you get loose
i was so very, very good this afternoon at getting things done and so very, very bad at it this evening... oh well. i posted a few pictures on www.texasdrums.com, tried my hand at t-shirt design, posted to this blog...
my brother was in town this weekend. he was going to come in saturday afternoon to go to austin city limits with me but ended up coming late thursday night due to the impending hurricane Rita (which was, by the way, the best letdown i've had in a while-do they call those letups?). anyway, we spent friday with my friends, saturday at the old pecan street festival and relaxing, and sunday at ACL, where we saw some really, really amazing stuff. there was this latin group called Manejo Beta that was the best group of its kind i've ever heard. this amazing singer/songwriter chick named Rachel and I can't spell her last name. and then the big three... Jason Mraz, Franz Ferdinand, and of course, COLDPLAY.
oh, coldplay.
some would say they're overrated. some others would say that they just flat out suck. maybe it is true that their music is simple and lacking in difficult technique, but somehow they still manage to move me. their music is just rich and full and you can't help but emote when you hear it. and hearing them live was akin to an amazing worship service, at least for me, where i was singing and surrounded by people singing and feeling the music pulsate through my body. intensely, intensely spiritual. chris martin and i could have had some beautiful blonde musician babies. they would have bad teeth, but i don't think i would mind too much. it's all good, though, because right now i like the boy i've got. :-) chris, i know you wrote all those songs for me, but you're going to have to wait...
and this weekend i'll be up all night friday only to fly to mizzou at 4 am, go to the game, beat the hell out of the tigers, fly back, and die to the world. at least, that's what i'm predicting will happen.
i'm not sick anymore, but now allergies are kicking in again and i'd like them to go away as well.
i feel like i'm not good at all at conducting. since i don't plan to be a band director, this isn't catastrophic, but it is disappointing.
and i'd do anything to keep you here tonight
and i'd say anything to make you feel all right
and i'd be anything to keep you here tonight
cause i want you to stay with me
i need you tonight... -smashing pumpkins
it's now 12:11 am, september 29th, 2005. happy half-birthday to moi!
