oh the times they are a'changin...
less than three weeks left of school plus one (take-home) final. i'm finding that this semester has flown by at about the same pace as others, but it's much more surreal. i can't say it's happy or sad, exciting or frightening - it's all of them, very intensely and at the same time.
but enough emo. let's talk about cooler things.
so on 4/10/07 i officially became a composer :-) and it was awesome. i wrote an original piece for steel pan ensemble over christmas break entitled "no cruce enfrente del autobus" (you might have to attend UT to get the joke, i'm afraid) and we played it as the final piece on our concert. and i'm trying as hard as i can not to be vain, but good lord, that moment where people stood and cheered and whistled and shouted my name was among the coolest of my life. in a sense, i think it was just what i needed - just when i was unsure of my abilities, my relationships, and myself, this thing comes along and shows me that i may not be the best at what i do, but - at least for my age - i'm pretty damn good at it. so next up i guess is maybe some more compositions, trying to get some published perhaps (after i talk to some trusted mentors). it's highly unlikely that you'll ever see my name in lights anywhere, but it's part of what i love to do.
so wheeeeeeee i'm on muscle relaxers for back spasms and i feel loopy and it's only 10:30 am. good times!
slow down everyone, you're moving too fast
frames can't catch you when you're moving like that
